Product Description
5233-2089 is a digital overspeed trip device. This model is an energize-to-trip version of the Woodward ProTech 203 series. It uses three individual speed-sensing units in a two-out-of-three voting configuration to continually monitor prime mover speed for overspeed conditions. Each of these three units has its own power supply and a voltage input of 220 Vac.
The two-out-three hardware voting method and module design of model 8200-210 make it an ideal choice for overspeed monitoring and protection. Normal operations can be sustained with only two of the three units while the third is tested, replaced, or in the event, a single unit is tripped.
Each speed-sensing unit displays its actual current speed and has its own set of LED indicators. These indicators will show if a unit has tripped (there is also a separate alarm output for this), if there is a failure of any unit’s magnetic pickup or its wiring, or if there is an error in the unit’s CPU functioning.
Additional features of the 8200-210 are the ability to reset the system from a remote location, key lock access for programming and testing, and the ability for this system to be configured for compatibility with multiple combinations of power sources.
Product Description
The ProTech 203 Overspeed Protection System is a series of digital overspeed trip devices. This series has several models for various voltage input and trip relay needs. Model 8200-209 is a 120 Vac/dc input, de-energize-to-trip model in this Woodward series. With correct configuration, this system can be compatible with different combinations of power sources.
Through three individual magnetic pickups (MPUs), this device samples prime mover speed every 5 ms. The 8200-209 system actuates its relay output based on a two-out-of-three hardware vote, completed with three identical speed-sensing units, each performing its own speed calculation. Although these individual units are connected to provide this hardware vote, the system is designed to continue operations with only two units online.
